Do you sometimes find yourself being stuck for inspiration when it comes to creating new designs? We know it can be tough trying to come up with something new, or even just taking those first steps of experimentation: it feels never-ending… but that’s where Spoon Graphics come in.

With the retro and vintage boom coming back in full swing, we’re taking a look at their tips and resources for creating fun and authentic looking designs!

Fonts for creating vintage logos and fonts.

There are plenty of articles that Spoon Graphics share that go in depth on font packs available which will help you get that authentic look for your next design. Each pack showcases the best ways to use them and their different functionalities, meaning that you can use this resource to make the most of your next typeface to really pull a design together.

Many of these font-based articles give examples of how they can be used, which is perfect when you’re struggling for inspiration. Sometimes just seeing things visually can be all you need to ignite that brain spark.

Listicles with endless inspiration.

Every so often, there’ll be a list article that will offer plenty of inspiration for your next idea. Our current favourites are the endless examples of retro inspired logos that include fun mascots. There’s so much to get from these, and it’s a great tool to use to ignite that spark you might be missing.

These lists use examples from a range of different designers so it’s a great way to also uncover new artists to follow on socials.

Plethora of visual tutorials.

Spoon Graphics also operate a YouTube channel in which they provide a series of tutorials for all kinds of projects. From text-based graphics to full digital illustrations, there’s something for everyone to get something from. Personally, we’ve used Spoon Graphics for personal projects before and they’ve been essential in helping to realise ideas.

Lots of their tutorials have more of a retro flair, but they can be used in so many different ways. It’s great to see how these designs and ideas can be translated into something tangible.

Design ideas that translate to physical items.

Lastly, another kind of article (and occasional tutorial) that Spoon Graphics showcase are ones that can be translated to a physical, tangible item. If you’re feeling like designing a patch, or a t-shirt, they’re a great resource to help you visualise this through Illustrator and Photoshop. Using textures and layers to mock-up your designs in a realised way.

All in all, it’s worth checking out the Spoon Graphics website and having a look around to kickstart your next project, as there’s tons of content to scan through as well as a range of free downloadable resources that you can use in the future. If you create anything, we’d love to see what you make by tagging us on our socials!
